Lyrics

JUST MARRIED
(Patrick Jason Matthews/Rory Bourke)

I remember the day we drove away, in that old truck
The family waved and the preacher prayed, that love would do its work
And we were dragging cans, behind my old Dodge Ram
So in love, so many plans

Just married, painted on the side
Kinda scary, but we were ready to try
Two as one against the world
I thought that we were different, girl
I never dreamed that we would be
Just married

Now we got good jobs and we work real hard, but no one's ever home
And we never fight but it ain't all right, 'cause I know something's wrong
We never kiss like we used to kiss
After all these years, we've come to this

Just married, strangers in the hall
Awful scary, we hardly talk at all
It's like we live in separate worlds
We've grown apart, we're different, girl
I never dreamed that we would be
Just married

I need to know it's just a rut we're in
And I need to feel the fire we felt back then

Two as one against the world
We had something special, girl
I hope you feel the same as me, 'cause bay I don't wanna be
Just married
Just married

I remember the day we drove away, in that old truck

Jason Matthews was born in Harrell's Store, North Carolina. At fifteen he saw Eric Clapton on television and became obsessed with writing songs.

His first industry fan, WRFX DJ Macon in Charlotte, gave Matthews' demo to legendary musical comedy team Pinkard and Bowden, who subsequently invited Matthews to be their roadie and in-house writer. After a year on the road, he settled in Nashville to pursue his dream of becoming a hit songwriter.

In 2006, he landed his first Number One with Billy Currington's version of his song, “Must Be Doin' Something Right.” This earned him the coveted Music Row Magazine Breakthrough Writer Of The Year award and several ASCAP awards.

In 2008, Jason released the critically acclaimed album called "Hicotine" and the single "That's What Mamas Do".

Jason is an artist with Valhalla Music Group.
